“No water, no life. No blue, no green.” – Sylvia Earle

The second edition of Moving Waters Film Festival comes to Chennai, after a successful run in Bangalore.

Through films that tell stories about the people, places and ecosystems that make up our rivers and oceans, the Moving Waters Film Festival hopes to bridge the worlds of research, exploration, conservation and filmmaking in India.

The film festival celebrates and showcases the grandeur of our Blue Planet in a two-day film festival.

In addition to films by Peter McBride, Ben Knight and Will Stauffer-Norris, it features the work of renowned Indian film makers like Saravanakumar Salem, Rita Banerjee and Chintan Gohil, among others. The festival features five world premieres, with films from lands as far away as Kiribati and Bali to our own Ramnathapuram and Cheyyur.

The films have been carefully curated to reflect themes of exploration and adventure, ecosystems, conservation issues and people who depend on these rivers and oceans.

The festival has eight key speakers including filmmakers themselves, who will introduce their films and provide opportunities for interaction through Q&A sessions. From activists, like Nityanand Jayaraman, renowned scientists, like Aaron Lobo and Divya Karnad, to educators, like Nisha Abdulla, the panel of speakers promises to keep the audience enthralled.

Here are the movies that will be screened in the festival.
