A Journey into the world of Frogs and Toads of Western Ghats!

For: amateur naturalists wanting to learn about Amphibians. Any nature lover who wants to be introduced to the world of frogs and toads.

This July, Bamboo Rustles takes you once again to the rain forests of Honey Valley/Chingara to learn about the various species of frogs and toads that reside in the Western Ghats. Accompanying you will be Dr KV Gururaja, an amphibian scientist with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and author of the recently published book – ‘A Pictorial Guide to the Frogs and Toads of the Western Ghats’. He will be able to give you a close up view and a qualified understanding of the several species of frogs that live in the area.

The forest is also home to several species of birds, butterflies, reptiles and insects. You embark on the trip on Friday morning and reach Honey Valley by late afternoon. The Bamboo Rustles camp there is surrounded by the rain forests and is a great place to see nature at its best! You will be going out in the nights with torches looking for frogs and in the day, you will have a few sessions going over various amphibian life forms, identifications, habitat and behaviour. Read here about their previous three years’ expeditions.
