About Tatiana Petrova
Tatiana Petrova is a renowned ornithologist and wildlife artist based in St. Petersburg, Russia.
She has been drawing animals since childhood. Their shapes, movements and expressions always fascinated her. Her unconditional admiration to animals was supported by many books of writers and artists who shared their deep knowledge and love to nature, such as B. Grzimek, J. Corbett, R. Kipling, K. Lorenz, V. Bianki etc. Her life always went two ways, dedicated to biology and art.
She studied biology in St. Petersburg State University and art in State Fine Art Academy in Russia and Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan, West Bengal, India.
She’s been working as an artist and graphic designer in Leningrad zoo and as a freelancer. She’s also worked with bird rescue and Cats Museum in St. Petersburg.
Indian wildlife is her special interest, with its shapes and bright colors. She has sketched a log of animals from India, while traveling and studying here. Her student art history essay was dedicated to history of Indian birds illustration in 18th-19th century.
